The Europe forum event in Turku discusses the future of Europe

The Europe Forum in Turku is organised for the fourth time from 25 to 27 August 2021. This year’s theme is “Towards the Future of Europe”. The forum brings together people from different areas of life: policy makers, non-governmental organisations, industry, social partners, experts, and citizens. The programme includes seminars, panel discussions and question time that aim to foster constructive dialogue on topics related to Europe as well as the significance, development and future of the European Union, in line with the themes of the Conference on the Future of Europe.

Due to restrictions caused by COVID-19, the Europe Plaza event will not be organised this year, but the public can follow the programme through live video broadcasts (and participate in the discussion using the Forum's mobile application).
Lingsoft has been a part of the Europe Forum since 2018 and is now providing accessibility services to the Forum's organisers and content producers.
Multilingualism and multiculturalism are key values in the EU, and this is reflected in the Treaties. Linguistic equality is also a prerequisite for the EU’s operations: when information is equally accessible to all EU citizens, it will be easier for citizens to approach decision-makers and institutions, which contributes to the principles of democracy, inclusion, and transparency.
The accessibility of digital services has also been highlighted as a key social objective both in Finland and across the EU. Accessibility legislation aims to guarantee equal opportunity for all to participate in the activities of the digital society, in order to promote inclusion and battle exclusion.
Lingsoft’s language management solutions and language services help in achieving these goals. Lingsoft has provided translation services in Finnish and Swedish to the bodies of the European Union for nearly 20 years.  In addition to the main agreements with the European Commission and the European Parliament, Lingsoft has several framework agreements with the Translation Centre for the Bodies of the European Union. Furthermore, Lingsoft has been responsible for the writing of summaries on EU legislation as well as translating them to 23 languages and maintaining the collection of summaries since 2017. The service also includes monitoring the development of EU legislation and the decisions of the European Court of Justice.
